BUY NOW, EAT LATER: Freezing Your Spinach for Smoothies, Soups, & Sauces.
Spinach is one of those fabulous crops that does very well in the spring/early summer before it gets hot, and then in the fall after the heat breaks--but it usually takes a break midsummer as the heat makes it very bitter. To keep yourself from missing out on spinach in your smoothies or in your cooked dishes in between now and our fall crop, why not stock up on our bulk spinach while we currently have a surplus? Simply follow these simple freezing instructions to enjoy your spinach later with maximum nutrient preservation.
- Wash your spinach thoroughly.
- Pat or spin dry.
- Pack into a freezer safe bag, removing as much air as possible.
- Lay flat in your freezer until frozen and then stack with other frozen veggies vertically to maximize storage!
- Use within 6 months for freshest taste, and use in any cooked or blended spinach dish.
